If you’re like me, you spend more time in the kitchen than any other room in your house (except maybe the bedroom but let’s face it sleep time doesn’t count). It’s where we gather to cook, eat, create school projects and entertain. Open floor plans; kitchen, living dining all together, are trending out of fashion. I think we’re tired of being reminded of our dirty dishes while trying to entertain, eat or watch tv. However, unless you’re building a new home or have an unlimited budget the open concept is what we have to work with in terms of design and decor. With that in mind here is my list of the trends for 2020 in kitchen design.

- Bold and Eclectic Backsplashes: 2020 will be the year we start a departure from traditional white subway tiles in favor of more unique, modern, colorful backsplash designs. As stated earlier this year in my article 5 Design Trends on the Way Out!

2. Colorful and Unique Round Islands: Show of hands, whose hit your hip on the corners of your island or counter tops? Well you won’t have that problem with a ROUND ISLAND! Plus, don’t forget our biggst trend this year COLOR!
3.Colorful Upholstery: We are closing the door on the pure white kitchens. However, if you’re still loving your all white kitchen and not ready for a complete redo, just add some pops of color.
4. Unique Appliances finishes: Although stainless steel appliances are still a popular option, the new go to for 2020 will be paneled appliances to match surrounding cabinets or colorful new options. Even white appliances have gotten an upgrade with the arctic white color and smooth finish.
5.Quartz is King! This countertop material is extremely hardy, can last virtually forever, is a breeze to maintain and is anti-microbial. However, don’t forget Terrazzo, Eco friendly Composite or reclaimed wood! Here are some great options 11 Inspiring Kitchen Countertop Trends .
Thanks for taking the time to read our blog and I hope these ideas have inspired you. Please feel free to share this and as always, we’re here if you need help with any renovation needs! Be sure to follow us for more design and home renovation articles. Stephanie & Chris Roessler
